As COO of Millibatt, Leland Smith is primarily responsible for overseeing the development and scaling of battery manufacturing processes. He Co-invented a photo-patternable electrolyte material in 2014 and co-founded Millibatt in 2015. His background is in the design, synthesis and testing of electrolyte materials for energy storage, and he is the author of two issued patents and several in prosecution, as well as articles in top journals e.g. Materials Horizons and Science. He completed a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry from Penn State University (2010) and PhD in Materials Science from UCLA (2015).
