Prof. Paprotny is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), and is the lead of the Air-Microfluidics Group (AMFG), where among other he investigates the development of low-cost air-microfluidic sensors for air quality and gas monitoring. Prior to his appointment at UIC, Dr. Paprotny was a post-doc and later a research scientist at University of California, Berkeley. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Dartmouth College, NH, USA, MS and BS in Industrial Engineering from Arizona State University, AZ USA, and an Engineering Diploma in Mechatronics from NKI College of Engineering, Oslo, Norway. Prof. Paprotny has published five book chapters, over 50 papers in journals and conferences, and is a co-author on four patents. His expertise is in the design, modeling, and fabrication of mechatronic and air-microfluidic devices, low-cost air-quality sensors and measurement technologies, and nano- and microfabrication techniques.
