Exploration Capabilities Development Team Lead
Dr. Kathleen Gallagher Boggs leads the Exploration Capabilities Development Team in Human Exploration and Operations Mission Directorate at NASA. In this role, she leads strategic planning for development and demonstration of capabilities critical for long duration deep space missions to destinations such as the Moon and Mars. Dr. Boggs holds a B.S in Materials Science and Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University and a Ph.D. in Physics from Trinity College Dublin, where her work focused on development of nanostructured ferromagnetic nanomaterials. Before joining NASA, Dr. Boggs served in several roles analyzing operations and technology issues for the Naval enterprise, with a focus on application of simulation systems to train ground forces in complex combat operations. In her spare time, Dr. Boggs enjoys engineering complex cakes, competing as a drug-free bodybuilder, and learning aerial arts.
