Bluetooth Low Energy - Revolutionizing the connectivity for IoT
As the IoT market continues to grow exponentially, connectivity requirements have also evolved. Multiple market segments like Smart Homes, Consumer, Industrial and Commercial lighting drive diverse needs like power, range, throughput, security on connectivity technologies. These segments also have a multitude of use cases and customers demand ease of use always. Bluetooth Low Energy has successfully addressed most of these requirements and also continues to evolve to address more of the market needs.

Silicon Labs has been a leading provider of Bluetooth Low Energy solutions across different markets for products like door locks, lighting equipment, wearables, smart professional tools and toys. This session will draw from those experiences and the expertise in the technology to articulate how the feature additions across specification versions has been revolutionary to provide secure and reliable connectivity for IoT applications.
Speaker: Jayanth Krishna, Sr. Product Manager, Bluetooth at Silicon Labs

Low Latency, Deterministic Bluetooth Communication for Industrial Control - Is It Possible?
Low latency, deterministic Bluetooth communication for industrial control – is it possible?
Abstract: Ever since its inception, interest in using Bluetooth technology in industrial manufacturing applications has been increasing, thanks, in large part, to findings by ABB Corporate Research back in 1998. Bluetooth based time-critical control applications with moderate latency requirements have been developed and in use by several companies for over a decade. This presentation will give an overview of low latency deterministic control using Bluetooth technology, present the basic elements required to increase the acceptance of Bluetooth by the manufacturing industry, provide insights to what research has found, highlight existing applications that industrial control companies have developed, and look at what future enhancements of Bluetooth might bring. In addition, the presentation will provide a quick introduction into specific developments, originating from Bluetooth technology, in short range, low latency, deterministic control.
Speaker: Pelle Svensson, Market Development Manager - Industrial Market, u-blox

11:20AM-12:00PM
Panel - Why the Explosive Growth of Bluetooth in Industrial, Commercial and Consumer Solutions and Devices?
Bluetooth is being chosen as the technology of choice for solutions requiring long range (e.g. over 500 meters), performance in harsh RF environments and a technology that spans industrial, commercial and consumer devices. In this expert panel, we will look at why product developers have made Bluetooth the #1 implemented connectivity option for the IoT and how to take advantage of its latest advancements.
Panelists:
Jim Katsandres, Director, Developer Programs, Bluetooth SIG
Erik Carlberg, Senior Product Manager, u-blox
Jayanth Krishna, Sr. Product Manager, Bluetooth at Silicon Labs

Bluetooth Direction Finding Brings A New Dimension to Indoor Positioning
Bluetooth 5.1 introduced Direction Finding as a feature, which enables sub one-meter accuracy asset tracking and indoor positioning applications using Bluetooth wireless technology compared to traditional RSSI based solutions with 5-10-meter accuracy. This session discusses the Bluetooth Direction Finding feature, architecture of indoor positioning and asset tracking solutions and how to implement and deploy solutions to real life environments.
Speaker: Mike Hansen, Product Marketing Manager, Silicon Labs

3:40PM-4:20PM
Panel - What's Next for RTLS, Direction Finding, Beacons and Commercial Lighting
Bluetooth based Real-Time Locations Services (RTLS), Direction Finding and Mesh Lighting are three of the fastest growing Bluetooth solution areas. In this expert panel, we will explore how Bluetooth is being used to get centimeter real time accuracy in RTLS and how it is also being used as a platform for the next generation of commercial lighting, sensor networks and the IoT
Panelists:
Julio Sanchez, Technical Mktg. Eng. Low Power RF & MEMs AME West, Canada West and Mexico, STMicroelectronics
Mike Hansen, Product Marketing Manager, Silicon Labs
