The Internet of Things will drive uptake of numerous novel sensor-based information technology products and systems that will take advantage of not only increased processing power and bandwidth, but also more abundant sensor technologies that will allow entirely new ways for technology to interact with humans and our world. This explosion of connected devices can bring significant cybersecurity risks, though, if not developed and deployed with cybersecurity in mind. In response, NIST and others have worked to develop usable cybersecurity guidance for IoT customers and manufacturers meant to cover the wide breadth of IoT applications, from big to small. Mike Fagan from NIST’s Cybersecurity for IoT Program will be joined by public and private sector experts on IoT cybersecurity to discuss these efforts and how they can be used across sectors to build a more secure IoT.
