Any wirelessly connected sensor in IoT or wearable applications that uses a battery as its sole source of power must eventually deal with a battery replacement problem. Energy harvesting, converting the available energy from a variety of sources to electricity, provides an alternative to frequently changing batteries in these applications. However, energy-efficient design also plays an important role in any battery-powered sensor and improved batteries can help, too. Attendees of this symposium leave with a better understanding of how to use energy harvesting and other technologies for specific low-power sensing applications, including:
  • Tips and tricks to stay within the energy/power budget
  •    The newest techniques and technologies for energy harvesting
  •    Technology direction and insight from industry leaders
