By 2030, the world is projected to have 43 megacities with more than 10 million inhabitants & commuters. By monitoring and controlling resources and transportation, Smart Cities can ensure sustainability and efficiency. Sensors will be the cornerstones of these cities, connected to form a central nervous system that will integrate transport, mobility and logistic systems, will empower e-business and e-commerce, will facilitate multi-modal fast commutes and reduce CO2 emissions, and will manage and the use and re-use of resources to maximize energy consumption and control pollution.
