Real robots are on the way to the home, and the home is a messy place, demanding more of sensors and algorithms than any industrial setting. In building the first ready-to-commercialize systems that address the freeform home environment, Samsung Research America shares their insights into the new demands placed on sensors, edge processing, real-time requirements, and artificial intelligence in making the dreams of a true home robots a reality. In this session, attendees gain an understanding of the limitations of what robots can realistically achieve in the home, and what is needed to make that happen. Understand how sensors and their algorithms are stressed differently in a home environment, and gain insight into the financial and practical limits of commercialization of high-grade consumer sensor systems.
