Is your company considering an industrial maintenance project using augmented reality? Intel recently completed a pilot for maintaining high intensity power panels in their sub-fab bulk chemical and power delivery areas of our Arizona factories. Augmented reality promises to deliver a valuable immersive experience in industrial spaces by overlaying the digital world on top of the physical world. Intel sees this as a potential path to achieve guided equipment maintenance procedures which in turn will dramatically increase quality and result in more equipment uptime and better sustained production performance. Challenges from battery life, to headset weight, to field of view size, to complex production of augmented reality content are real issues early adopters face. In this session, attendees learn about Intel's experiences with this new technology in industrial environments. It’s not as glamorous as all the marketing videos demonstrate. The reality is something very different. Is it ready for prime time? By listening to Intel's experiences, companies can judge for themselves at what time it makes the most sense to engage in production pilots.
